Example of an interactive assembly
Below is an example of an interactive assembly in which K-3rd grade
make music using instruments during the 45 minute show in the cafeteria/mpr .
Before the Show
We ask that at least 100 chairs/seating be pre-set by the school prior. Donté and Shar will arrive with ample time to set up and assist when needed. If your does not have access to chairs, or if it may be difficult to coordinate, we also have smaller drums that can be used without seating. After checking in with administration, Donté and Shar will unload all of their drums, equipment, and sound system onto the stage and assist with arranging seating for the student drummers. Students who will be drumming will have a drum preset at a chair. Other students will use handheld percussion and find a spot on the floor closer to the stage. Donte and Shar will assist your staff in getting all students seated while welcoming everyone to the show.
During the Show
After staff introduction, Donte and Shar will start their 45 minute school assembly set, guiding the students in making music and rhythm using their instruments. They also teach singing, dancing, call on volunteers, and do team building rhythm based activities.
After the Show
Students leave all instruments in the cafeteria prior to exiting. Donté and Shar often play an outro, leaving your students connected in song. If another assembly is to follow, they assist with ensuring everything is arranged for the next show.
